Edna Sinclair

We were saddened to hear of Edna's death on 30 November 2010 at Airedale General Hospital; however, we thank God for releasing her from her pain and suffering and taking her into His heavenly kingdom. Edna was one of our oldest members and she'll be dearly missed. We pray for His blessing and comfort for Edna's family at their time of need. There will be a celebration of Edna's life at Thackley Methodist Church at 12.00 noon on Tuesday, 7 December 2010 before going to Nab Wood Crematorium. Family flowers only please, but, if desired, a plate will be provided at the service for charitable donations for the Annette Fox Leukaemia Research Fund.

God and His worship leaders to the rescue!

We were so sorry to hear that our preacher for today (Sunday 31 October 2010) was unable to come due to illness and didn't hesitate to say that our worship leaders would look after the service. We then realised we had just a few days to sort something out and did our best not to panic! Thank goodness for the Internet; after a flurry of emails Chris, John and Ruth had put together a service that considered God's awesome gift of His Son and our response to that wonderful demonstration of abundant love. Although on holiday, Gill played her part by supporting the others through prayer. Here's Jackie D's response to the service: "I didn't get much chance to thank you all for the service this morning. It was interesting, informative and spiritual. It didn't consist of a hymn sandwich, we had a good mix of new songs and old hymns, the prayers were short and relevant, the speakers were excellent, the audio/visual meditation was stunning, and we got a rendition from

Back to Church Sunday

Sunday 26 September 2010 - Back to Church Sunday We were absolutely delighted to welcome several visitors to our Church this morning and it was lovely to share coffee and fellowship with them after the service. Thanks to Lorna for a great service, for introducing us to Badger, for taking us on a detective hunt to establish more of the three women friends of Jesus, and for demonstrating that our discipleship depends upon Christian fellowship. We loved the imagery of a burning ember needing others around it to keep the fire burning. There was no lack of fellowship after the service - we were still there 1 hour later! If you would like to share with us, please join us. We meet at 10.30 am each Sunday and we guarantee you a warm welcome.

People of Promise

On 17 September 2010 more than 40 of us set off to Abbot Hall , Grange over Sands for our Church Family Weekend and what a great weekend it was. We started on Friday evening with Rabbit Gill and Duck Jackie M setting the tone and theme for the weekend with a wonderful sketch about the light ribbon, and then Jackie D got us into teams for a game about promises. The Nooma Shells video formed our morning devotions on the Saturday followed by a session "Our promises" when we explored the covenant service . Meanwhile the children were preparing their story of Noah. The second session of the day "Something of promise" got our creative juices flowing as we split into groups to develop something from nothing. One group got crafty and made bracelets from recycled materials, one group developed a worship dance, another group wrote new lyrics to "Somewhere over the rainbow" and a fourth group looked for readings and prayers. The children enjoyed a treasure hunt in t

Happy 80th!

We have had a flood of 80th birthdays this year - Brenda, Margaret R, Margaret W, Maria, Joan, Marjorie. Congratulations to all of you! To celebrate we had a faith lunch after service on Sunday 5 September 2010. Also in the photograph are Lynne who celebrated her 90th birthday and Joe who is 94 this month! In fact, of the birthdays in September there's 89 years between the youngest and oldest - how fantastic is that!
